Storm Water Inflow and Infiltration into Sanitary Sewer – Cypress Creek UD

Regarding the recent issues with the storm water inflow and possible ground water infiltration into the sanitary sewer system, we feel it would benefit Cypress Creek Utility District and its residents to understand the sources of storm water entering the sanitary sewer system and what residents can do to help reduce storm water from entering the sanitary sewer system.

  1. Primary sources for stormwater inflow include residential sewer cleanout caps that have either been removed or damaged by mowers, manholes that become submerged, and cross connections with the storm sewer system. Sources of groundwater infiltration include cracks in sewer pipes and sewer manholes.
  2. We ask residents to ensure that their cleanout caps are installed properly to prevent storm water from entering the sanitary sewer system.
